I was born at what was HMS Terror, Her Majesty’s Naval base at Sambawang in Singapore and brought up on the beautiful west coast of Scotland an area I still love and return to. After College I moved to Cheshire and worked there for many years in various IT roles within the Pharmaceutical and Finance sectors.

As a great lover of all things water based, I moved to the Isle of Man with my partner in 2010 to focus less on work and more on getting wet (SCUBA Diving, windsurfing, and water ski-Ing). I soon discovered that the island is an amazing place for sea kayaking and yet another water sport passion emerged. The calming effect of sitting on a kayak and watching the marine life and birds is something very special.

I discovered HOW last year while looking for a volunteer role that I could be passionate about. As soon as I heard the concept of putting people on the water to help with their mental health, I knew I’d found what I was looking for. Although not from a military or service background I was welcomed by the amazing team at H.O.W. and became the events coordinator for the charity.
